"The revitalized Drama Group of Germantown is establishing itself as
a master interpreter of classic theater...a troupe that both celebrates the
source and finds ways to appeal to a contemporary audience."
- Annie Lannak, B Sharps Studio 6.

"Bringing these important stories to an audience that's relatively young compared to normal theatergoers is noble work indeed."
- Gwen Armstrong Barker, Delco Culture Vultures.
CURRENT SHOW:

The Drama Group of Germantown presents Frank Wedekind's Spring Awakening, adapted and directed by CJ Higgins. First published in 1891 and the basis for the hit Broadway musical, this searing play has a history of being banned and censored since its premiere due to its honest depiction of teenagers coming of age in a sexually-repressive society. We present a queer reading of the original text in order to contextualize the oppression of LGBTQIA+ youth for a modern audience. Content Notice is available to read here.
